Elevator Pitch (& then some)

Just a College Town Girl Livin' in a Lonely World
From August 2018 to May 2022, I attended the University of Kansas. This academic journey started with an acceptance into the 'LEAD' Program that I paired with an English major. After a few law classes that clipped my creative wings and one too many Shakespeare sonnets, I switched my major to education. While extremely eye opening and illuminating, I found myself yearning for a more artistically expressive route. It was at this point I found my home at the William Allen White School of Journalism and Mass Communications and never looked back. A couple years later, I gradated with a Bachelor's degree in Journalism/Mass Communications along with a business minor. And yes, that is a journey reference (my karaoke go to).

Internship Abroad turned Remote Freelance
Before my final year at KU, I spent one month abroad in London, United Kingdom where I honed my communication skills as a creative content intern. I worked for Bulbshare, a customer collaboration technology platform. Here, I did content writing and learned to work cross functionally with a diverse group of employees. I had never learned so much about cultural perspective than I did during my time here - I also had never consumed so much alcohol or 'football' than I did during my time here as I found myself in the midst of the Euro 2021 games. I went on to freelance for Bulbshare where I contributed to the development of their sustainability channel on their app writing copy and researching sustainable initiatives.

When Life Throws You Lemons
Soon after graduating, I was thrown some lemons from life that crippled any forward movement. I took time to live at home with my parents while completing a trauma therapy known as EMDR. Our family labrador quickly became an unofficial emotional support dog whose quirky personality made for a great distraction. I got a job working retail at a home décor store where I quickly learned the danger of working at a place you enjoy shopping at - my paycheck found its way back into the company more often than not. After awhile of navigating setbacks and building back my confidence, I soon found myself looking for an adventure where I could spend time with my newfound self.
Floor 4:
To Be or Not to Bee
A friend had previously introduced me to an organization called WWOOF which I found intriguing, but the timing had not been right. As soon as I was ready for that adventure (conveniently timed with my parents request for rent money), I was signed up and on a flight to the big island Hawai'i for the first time. After spending a month in the southern point of the island, I moved over to the eastern coastline in a town named Pahoa about 40 minutes from the more well known city of Hilo. I stayed on a single-estate apiary known as Pualani Bee Farm where I was hosted and mentored by a wonderful woman who taught me the art of beekeeping.

The Here and Now
Now we've arrived to the present day where I find myself seeking out my place in the professional realm. While I am new to this realm, my academic and worldly experiences along with my eagerness to learn have equipped me with a solid foundation in navigating problem solving and adapting to new people, places, and things. I am enthusiastic about the opportunity to leverage the skills I have learned in a dynamic environment with a healthy company culture that allows me to grow. My main professional goals are to ensure clear and effective communication and generate innovative solutions to drive engagement and connection with an overall aura of creativity.
